Our Mission
The Parish Church of Saint Winwaloe is a symbol of the presence of God and a focal point of the Christian Faith within the village of East Portlemouth, wherein all who participate in the activities of the Church seek to mutually support all people who live in and visit the Parish. See Our Vision.
History of the church and village
The church and the village both have long and interesting histories. An outline of these is given in the section on History.
Bell-Ringing
St Winwaloe’s has an active bell-ringing group. See the section on Bell Ringing.
St Winwaloe’s links
with South Africa
Following the visit of one of our Parishioners to Goedgedacht in South Africa,
East Portlemouth supports a feeding programme there. See the section on South
Africa for further information.
Other Churches in the Benefice
East Portlemouth is one of five
Churches in the United Benefice comprising: St Mary’s, Charleton (14th
Century), St Peter’s, Buckland-tout-Saints (18th Century), St Nicolas
and St Cyriac, South Pool (13th Century) and St Sylvester’s, Chivelstone

with the adjoining Benefice of Stokenham and Slapton, becoming the Start Bay
